Although I'm not the original reporter of this issue, I have exactly the same problem here on my x86 Gentoo box.

The error message complains that /opt/axiom/algebra/exposed.data is missing, and indeed this file is not present.

There are files exposed.fn and exposed.o available in the indicated directory, though.

At the first glance, this would look like an installation problem.

But then, Axiom installed on a different Gentoo x86 box is also missing this file, but still starts nicely.

I am using Axiom 3.9 from Gentoo package "sci-mathematics/axiom-3.9-r1".

What could be the problem?

If you need more information, just let me know.

Sorry if this is too basic, but I've recently installed axiom in my amd64 gentoo 64 bits machine and when I type axiom at the promt I get the axiom console with the following message :

 Error: Can't open file "/opt/axiom/algebra/exposed.data"
Fast links are on: do (si::use-fast-links nil) for debugging
 Error signalled by SYSTEM:TOP-LEVEL.
Broken at APPLY. Type :H for Help.

 process are still running

 (part of ps ax)

but console does nothing

Thanks

Olgierd,

Could you please explain exactly what version of Axiom you installed and what procedure you used for the installation?

Bill Page.
